This June was a terrific month for the United Way of East Central Texas, our Partner Agencies, and local volunteers to give back to the community. On June 3rd, we held our 2nd annual Food Packaging event. At this event, the efforts of all those involved produced around 68,000 packaged servings for local food banks that struggle to meet demand during summer months. This is a critical time of year when many children who would normally take advantage of free school lunch programs must make do with less or without. One week later, on June the 10th the United Way partnered with the Palestine Public Library to present the Dogwood Children's Literacy and Arts Festival. Many local charities participated along with professional children's author John Manders. There was a significant turnout and a great and educational time was had by all. Thank you to all guests and participants and remember to LIVE UNITED.
